The Treasury of Bearland has came out with a major announcement. It has just been confirmed that Bearcoin Classic, which used a proof-of-work system, has been officially discontinued in favor of Bearcoin Gold, a proof-of-stake design. All development on Bearcoin Classic has ceased.
The decision follows a study conducted by the Treasury, which found that proof-of-stake is substantially better than proof-of-work. The Treasury says the switch offers a more practical and sustainable path to a release.
The core change is how the network reaches consensus. Rather than miners competing to solve a computational puzzle, Bearcoin Gold uses validators who stake their coins as collateral. One eligible validator is selected to forge each block, and that block only becomes final once a quorum of attestors signs off on it.
