Bearcoin / Bearcoin Gold
Current Version: Pre Alpha 0.5.28
Estimated Release Date: Sometime After 2027-2028
Bearcoin (ƃ / BBRC) is a digital form of Bear (Ƃ / BBR). Every Bearcoin is backed 1:1 by physical bear held in Treasury reserve. Only the Treasury can mint or burn Bearcoin, growing or shrinking supply as reserves change. The price of Bearcoin can never change, it will never go up or down when compared to bear. Ƃ1 will always be worth ƃ1 and vice versa.
Transactions enter a shared pending pool called the mempool. Computers connected to the network compete to bundle pending transactions into a block and solve a computational puzzle tied to it, this is called proof-of-work, it is hard to solve but instant to verify. Whoever solves it first shares the block with anyone connected to the network, then the network checks that it’s valid, and it’s added to the chain. Miners aren’t paid by the Treasury and mining doesn’t create new coins, instead the miner that completes the puzzle first gets to collect the fees attached to every transaction in the block they confirmed.
Bearcoin Gold is the same idea as Bearcoin, but it uses proof-of-stake instead of proof-of-work.
Most cryptocurrencies run on a single elliptic curve, Bitcoin and Ethereum both use secp256k1. Bearcoin uses up to three: secp256k1, Ed448, and secp521r1. Every wallet starts from a seed phrase, 12 or 24 words for secp256k1, 45 for Ed448, 51 for secp521r1. From the seed an entire family of keys and addresses can be derived in a tree, so one phrase covers every address you’ll ever need. A Bearcoin address always starts with BEAR; a secp256k1 wallet can actually generate two valid address styles from the same key, they are called B44 and B60.
Bearcoin runs on an encrypted peer-to-peer network and includes many confirmations on connection that every node should share. These confirmations are used to verify any connected peers are on the same blockchain and share certain data. Transactions and all other data are public by design, anyone with a block explorer connected to the chain would be able to see everything except seed phrases and private keys, as these are unable to be derived from public keys or addresses (i.e. all transactions, addresses, timestamps, block heights, memos, etc..).
If you lose your seed phrase or private keys, that wallet’s coins are gone forever unless you manage to remember or find where you wrote the keys down. There is no password reset, no support line, and the Treasury can’t recover it at all, that’s the whole point of cryptography. However there is one exception, if you remember you used a weak string in an external wallet app or if you have an encrypted wallet file and know the PIN was simple and short, it might be recoverable. If you do ever lose access to your wallet, feel free to contact Bearland Palace to report the coins gone or for steps on how you may be able to recover a poorly protected wallet.
Bearcoin won’t be public until sometime after 2027-2028, once testing and refinement are further along, and it will most likely never be listed on a cryptocurrency exchange. Bearland has citizens across the globe, and shipping physical bear risks theft, loss, and seizure. Bearcoin lets citizens receive bear digitally instead, no traditional banks or cash required.
A version of Bearcoin specifically made for testing will be released to the public at some point before the official release. Contact us here to get it when it is ready.
Example Bearcoin Credentials
These are actual keys to a real Bearcoin wallet. If you have access to Bearcoin software you should NEVER send coins to this address as they could be stolen in a snap.
