Bearlandic Winter is Almost Over

It has now been about four months since Bearland’s mainland last saw the sun. Since Longnight on October 17, the sun has remained below the horizon, leaving the mainland in its deep winter, a period known locally as the Midday Moon. Cold, dim, and intensely frigid, with temperatures currently sitting around –43 °C, that long stretch of darkness is now nearing its end as Firstday approaches next week.

Using detailed solar and terrain simulation technology developed by a trillion-dollar tech company, officials have identified the best spots to view the sun’s return, should anyone happen to be on the mainland. Current projections suggest Cliffridge Peak, along with nearby high ground, will offer the clearest chance to see the sun briefly crest the southern horizon. The system is highly advanced but cannot predict weather conditions this far out, so cloud cover could still block the view. If skies are clear, the sun is expected to remain visible for less than an hour before dipping back below the horizon.

Current projections place the sun very low along the southern horizon sometime between 10 AM and 2 PM, marking the first direct mainland sunlight since Longnight and the beginning of Bearlandic Spring.
